Prerequisites
This upgrade only applies to laptops running older versions of MacOS – specifically any version less than Sequoia (15.x.x).
To determine if you device requires this upgrade, reference this Apple Support Article. If the macOS version does not say “Sequoia”, you will need to follow the instructions below.
Before You Start
You will need:
- At least 1 hour to allow the upgrade to download and install. *Note: You can still use your laptop while the upgrade downloads, but the installation will restart your laptop.
- A stable network connection. DO NOT walk around with your laptop or close the lid after starting this process.
- Laptop Charger. The upgrade will only proceed if connected to power.
Video Guide
Note: In the video guide, it shows “SONOMA_MajorUpgrade” in Self Service. This will change based on the latest available major upgrade (i.e SEQUOIA_MajorUpgrade).
FAQs
How will I know when the upgrade is complete?
The upgrade will restart your laptop, after the restart, check your MacOS version again (Apple Support Article). This time it should say MacOS Sequoia version 15.x.x. If you still see your old MacOS version, this means there was an issue with the upgrade and it did not go through. Visit a Wahi Lolouila for assistance.
