Teachers Went Back To School!

Teachers were able to participate this week in an awesome workshop presented by Drew and Brad of “Two Guys and Some iPads” fame. Teachers learned how to use augmented reality applications to enhance students’ educational experiences. 5th graders had a chance to experience augmented reality firsthand. Watch the video above to see Drew and Brad interact with our fifth grade students.

Every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science. That’s why our entire Kamehameha Elementary School students in grades 1-5 participated in a variety of coding activities to join in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 8-14). This year
5, 352,335, 753 lines of code were written by students from around the world.
In one hour during their scheduled computer lab visitations, students learned that computer science is fun, easy, and accessible at all ages. The top coders in each of the classes at Kamehameha Elementary School were:
Grade 1-ThunderCaulford, Ryder Kapoi and Aiden Gasmen
Grade 2-Kaydence Garcia and Jamie DeLima
Grade 3-Noah Kalehuawehe and Keegan Gantala
Grade 4-Peyton Bui and Xavier Shiffler
Grade 5-Kalae Ching and Elijah Auweloa
