About

Perhaps you’ve heard it through the grapevine. Or you’ve talked with one of our teachers. Or your child has mentioned it. We are, indeed, going to begin our 1:1 iPad rollout shortly! Yes, it’s true! This summer, our Kamehameha Schools trustees approved our request to be the FIRST of our three campuses to implement a 1:1 iPad program. What does this mean? Each of our students will be issued an iPad to use in school for educational purposes.

Our staff has been receiving on-going professional development. In fact, 12 faculty and staff members traveled to San Antonio, Texas, this summer to attend the ISTE Conference, a national educational technology conference. Teachers are having in-service training in large groups, small groups and 1 to 1, as we differentiate instruction for everyone, much like we do for our haumāna.

Our 1:1 core planning team, our 1:1 program manager (Ellen Cordeiro), our ITRT (Carmen Richardson), and our Hale Pāhana Kīpaepae staff (Kyle Santos and Raymond Hutton) have been busy getting everything ready to receive the shipment of over 256 iPads. Students will begin using the iPads in school in late September/early October.

Our 1:1 iPad Vision:

Mōhala i ka wai ka maka o ka pua.
