Congratulations, Kamailah and Shade!

Our monthly Hāweo Luncheon was held today and two awesome students were honored for being great citizens in 3B. Kamailah and Shade are two outstanding students who demonstrate the Hawaiian value of KULEANA. We are proud of these two keiki for being responsible students and citizens. Mahalo to their ʻohana for joining in on the celebration, too!

Morning Meeting Activities

Our Morning Meetings are a great time to build pilina in our community. Before break we did a fun activity that required the students to be problem solvers as they worked together to accomplish a common goal… get the candy corn from one tray to another. Sound easy? Well they couldn’t use their hands and had to use a spoon held by their mouth. The keiki did a great job and enjoyed working together. Just see for yourself!

And the Winner is… Hina!

Hina

Congratulations, Hina, for winning the Jamba Juice card for earning a Smart Score of 80 or more in at least seven skills in IXL! In fact, kudos to all of 3B for doing the same in the month of Kepakemapa. Mrs. Hara announced this morning that our entire class met the criteria and EVERYONE was entered in the drawing. Whoop, whoop! Go 3B!

iPads for All!

Yippee, yahoo! 3B got their ipads yesterday. We had an awesome day as keiki received their iPads in beautiful blue cases. We are truly blessed to be at school that values technology and the importance of 21st Century skills. There were eight adults in the room ready to troubleshoot any problems that popped up, so everything ran smoothly. Mahalo to everyone who made this great addition to our learning possible. It is going to be an exciting year of learning and growth.IMG_1515

Artist Visits 3B

Mrs. Rosehill planned a special lesson today with a guest artist, Kathleen Kam, teaching our haumana special painting techniques. Aunty Kathy demonstrated for the students how to paint the ulu fruit and plant using curved stokes with the paintbrush and adding details with her fingers. The ulu plant is Papa ‘Ekolu’s class plant.

Aunty Kathy, a master gourd carver and muralist, has been a professional artist for over 30 years and is registered with the “Artist in the School Teaching Partners” for public schools in Hawaii. You may have even seen a mural painted by her at Kamehameha School’s Kapalama campus.

Mahalo, Mrs. Rosehill and Aunty Kathy for a fun-filled day of art!
Aaron

I Am Blessed

Our Morning Meeting today focused on all of our blessings. Partners shared with each other things that they were blessed with. We all agreed that we are truly blessed to be here at Kamehameha Schools Hawai’i. The highlight of our morning was when Kumu Kanani taught us a new dance to the song “I Am Blessed”. Here’s a video so you can get a peek into what we did today.

Mahalo, Kumu Kanani for being a great librarian as well as a talented dancer!
