Safety is at the forefront in all that we do at our kula. As all of our students ride the bus either to or from school and on field trips, this annual mandatory bus evacuation drill is imperative. Guided by counselors Tim Kudo and Tracy Kāneakua, students will view a video on bus safety and procedure on evacuation steps. Following the video, students and staff will board a school bus (mahalo Akita Bus!) and will then be directed as to the proper way to exit a bus. Students and staff will actually exit the rear of the bus by “jumping” (gently) out of the bus with assistance.
As the students and staff will be sitting on floor of the bus to exit by jumping, everyone can wear long jeans on this day! Students, however, need to wear their uniform polo shirts that may be un-tucked.
