SAFETY FIRST is at the forefront of what we do here at our kula. We have fire drills, lockdown drills, earthquake drills, and today, our K-5 students, faculty and staff participated in a bus evacuation drill. All of our students will ride the bus at one point in time either to and from school or in transit for a field trip, thus making this drill imperative for their safety.
Lead by campus Transportation Coordinator, Ray Iyo, and partnering with Akita Bus company, students are briefed by the bus driver on how to respond in an emergency on the bus. Kindergarteners viewed a video and were guided by counselors Tim Kudo and Tracy Kāneakua as to their behavior and expectations should they need to evacuate a bus. Following the video, the students are instructed to exit rear door of the bus.
