As we all returned to school yesterday from a very “fulfilling” Thanksgiving, our first trimester awards assembly was held. We started off our morning with a message from our Hope Poʻokula, Mrs. Iaea Honda – a message filled with appreciation for all that we have not only in our ʻohana and homes, but here in school.
Kumu Crabbe recognized twenty-four students (2 from each class) for the Hawaiian Value award. These students demonstrated the Hawaiian value of hōʻihi, to be respectful at all times, during the entire first trimester. Hoʻomaikaʻi!
Our fabulous counselors, Mr. Tim Kudo and Mrs. Tracy Kāneakua, called up on the stage, 103 student who achieved perfect attendance! WOW! That was awesome. These students came to school EVERY day for 55 days!
Third through fifth graders who garner a grade point average of 3.5-3.9 duing a trimester achieve the Principal’s List award. There were 16 students who achieved this very prestigous award.
Finally, at the end of our awards presentations, we kicked off our Pennies for Pauahi campaign. Ke Aliʻi Pauahi Foundation’s Executive Director, Keawe Liu shared with us that while this day was “Cyber Monday” and we just experienced “Black Friday”, Tuesday was “Giving Day” – a day to give to a worthy cause in your community. Thus, our Pennies for Pauahi kick off was very timely and our kula was definitely on the right track.
‘Tis the season for kahiau.
