Starting today, Tuesday, Nov. 13th through Friday, Nov. 16th, our kula will be celebrating Geography Week! Geography Awareness Week will be hosted by the National Geographic Society from November 11-17, 2012. The week’s theme will focus on how geography instills an awareness of the interdependence and interconnectedness embedded in all of our lives. Students, parents, and educators will learn new ways of finding and sharing their global footprint, and the ways in which the decisions we all make every day can have far reaching consequences all over the world. This year’s program will show how the ideas of interdependence, interconnectedness, and geographic perspectives can be easily incorporated into all parts of the class, after-school program, or at home.
Spearheaded by Kumu Kala, of papa ʻehā and Mrs. Littrell of papa mālaaʻo, Geography Week has gone digital! Students have been invited to check out both Kumu Kala and Mrs. Littrell’s blogs and “tweet” their journey and experience as they navigate their sites.
