A tradition that was established last year, our papa ‘ekahi (1st graders) work very hard to learn about the moʻolelo of King Kamehameha and the Law of the Splintered Paddle. The keiki learn songs, oli and hula then perform a wonderful musical depicting this story.
Kumu Nancy Fortuna and Donna Moore, along with Music teacher, Cindy Debus, and Hawaiian Language teacher, Kumu Crabbe, work tirelessly (but love it) as they prepared the keiki for not one performance, but two! Our fearless Educational Assistants, Mrs. Vareze and Mrs. Harrington, along with several parents, helped the students with their costumes as well as implements.
Parents & ʻohana had an opportunity to see the musical yesterday along with our 2nd graders and about 30 middle school students! Another performance was held this morning and our kindergarten class, faculty and staff were treated to a very special performance.
Hoʻomaikaʻi Papa ʻEkahi for a wonderful performance and experience for all!
