This year our specials teachers were fortunate to attend a very special conference on O’ahu, listen to Sir Ken Robinson present, and launa with their colleagues from the Kapālama and Maui campuses at the Kamehameha Schools Kapālama elementary campus. The visit back in October proved to be so successful and worthwhile that efforts were made to have another gathering, to share manaʻo, to help one another out. So this morning our kula haʻahaʻa served as the host for our visitors from both islands. The specials teachers, along with their administrators, graced our campus with their presence. The teachers had time to sit and talk and our specials teachers taught classes while the other teachers observed. We know, as educators, that having these opportunities enriches our own practice in the classroom. Mahalo nui to all the kumu, curriculum coordinators and other administrators who participated today and mahalo nui to Mrs. Rutherford and our office staff for their attention to the many details involved in making today a possibility.
