Welcome to 2015!!
Students were greeted back to school with the scene of white snow on Mauna Kea. Even Mauna Loa has snow covering it, though not able to see from this point.
Through out the winter break, the islands were hit with some winter storms that included colder temperatures, very high winds and waves, and snow conditions on Mauna Kea. The high winds knocked down trees in many areas around the state of Hawai`i which took down power lines. So some people did not have electricity for a few hours or even a day or two.
It is wonderful to see all the bright eyed students and hear about their vacations. I look forward to another great year.
