This trimester Papa `Elua will be studying the native Hawaiian rainforests. Before they can start their unit study, I wanted to know how much they knew about the native Hawaiian rainforests. Many live in a rainforest area, some have visited it, and some maybe have not experienced it. In their first class of the unit, they were asked to draw and write anything they knew about the native Hawaiian rainforests. I asked them to share with me their knowledge of what animals and plants they think belonged in a native Hawaiian rainforests. In their next class they will be writing about why they think it might be specials or important to learn about it and protect it.
