As with my reading instruction, writing instruction will also reflect the Writerʻs Workshop format.  Students will be engaged in authentic writing experiences that allow them to grow as authors.  My role is to be the “mentor author”, who models writing techniques and traits and guides them through the writing process.  I provide direct and purposeful writing instruction in the form of a mini lesson at the beginning of the workshop and this is followed by a period of active writing and conferring time.

Students will be exposed to and experience a variety of writing genres, purposes and styles to include expository, narrative, argumentative/persuasive and poetry writing.
