Morning Meeting has been a daily morning routine in 3A since the first day of school. Morning meeting is a time for our keiki to build relationships, build trust amongst one another, learn social and academic skills, and of course have FUN!
What does Morning Meeting look like? Well, it starts off in the morning as children enter the classroom. An important aspect in building relationships is learning to greet one another with respect. Every morning I make sure to greet each child by name as they enter and in turn they greet me and one another. After oli, we begin the actual meeting with another whole class greeting. This time everyone is involved at the same time. Greetings can be as simple as saying “hello ______” to 3 or 4 classmates and then giving a gentle hug. Or, it can be as fancy as completing an action like mummy walking to a friend, saying “Aloha Kakahiaka _____” with a fist bump, and then sharing their favorite ice cream flavor. Can you imagine how special one feels when others recognize YOU on a daily basis?
Check back next week for a video clip of one of our special 3A greetings!
