Researching Parts of the World

Our Papa ‘Ekolu demonstrated the skills learned in their “Mini-Research Project”.  From note-taking, to using informational features, and creating citations for each resource used; these students did very well as they worked together and collaborated in small groups.  So proud of them! Snaps for Papa ‘Ekolu!

Gathering Information & Citing Sources

Our Papa ‘Ekolu is busy using their note-taking skills and gathering information. Using the “Welcome To My Country” series, they are learning some facts about the various countries in our world; Isreal, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Singapore to name a few.  In their own words, these third graders are sharing things they have learned about their country, and gathering the appropriate elements  for their bibliography.  Way to go Papa ‘Ekolu!

Using Informational Features

Our third graders are getting ready for a research project that they will be engaged in during the 3rd trimester.  In preparation for this project they have already learned & practiced good note-taking skills.  They are in the process of learning the Informational Features (Key) and using these keys when gathering important pieces of information. To find out more about these features, click on “Nonfiction Keys” on the menu section of my blog.
