Students are learning the writing process. They make a plan for a story, do a rough draft, conference with the Kumu, and may choose to publish their story to read in Author’s chair. Give them lots of experiences so they will have many ideas for a story. Help students with inventive spelling. Say, “what letters do you hear in this word?” Encourage them to sound it out.
