Let’s Measure Length!

Hi Mathematicians! Read through the 4 measurement activities below and make a decision on the one you’d like to work on today. If you don’t finish today you will have some time to continue tomorrow…or maybe even start a new activity.

#1- Create a bracelet or necklace with beads (You will need to measure the length of your bracelet or necklace so that it can fit)

#2- How long is your foot? Measure it with one inch paper clips and create a design of the actual size of your foot.

#3- How long is a crocodile? Create an actual life size picture of a crocodile! The average length of a crocodile is 5 to 6 feet long.

#4- How long is a ________? Fill in the blank with your favorite animal and create an actual life size picture!

You may work with a partner on #’s 2-4

“You Don’t Have to Be The Best to Be Good” By-Charity

Katriel shared a very inspirational poem with us a few weeks ago and we got permission to share it with all of you!

“You Don’t Have to Be The Best to Be Good”

You don’t have to be the prettiest to be pretty
You don’t have to be the best singer to sing good
You don’t have to be the strongest to be strong
You don’t have to be the funniest to be funny
You don’t have to be the smartest to be smart
You don’t have to be the most successful to succeed.

Please share your thoughts with us on how this made you feel or what it made you think about.

Being Human..But Being A Kind One

Yes, my feelings have been hurt. Many, many, many times. When I was a little child, when I was an older child and even as an adult. I understand that my feelings will continue to get hurt but I have control over how hurt I am. It is MY choice to be strong and learn from the experience. It is MY choice to forgive the person who may have hurt me whether they apologize and show me they are sorry or not. In my “perfect” world those who hurt me would not only explain why they are sorry for what they did but would show me with actions that they are sorry. This might mean they treat me with respect, greet me when I greet them, etc… I understand though that I am also human and will make mistakes as well. What will I demand of myself when this happens? Well, if I hurt anyone with my decisions & mistakes, I will explain why I am sorry and SHOW them it won’t happen again with my actions. I may even write a note, letter, card that tells them how sorry I am.

WE are ALL human. Mistakes will happen. It’s what we do about them that shows what kind of human we want to be.

Polygon Hunt

Good Morning Mathematicians,
Today’s task: Find real life polygons in our classroom! You and your table partner are in charge of taking one to two photos of real items in our classroom for some of the polygons listed below. You will then transfer each photo into book creator. Each page will have the photo(s) with a label (name of the polygon). You also need to include the number of sides, number of angles, and number of vertices. Try to see if you can find objects that no one else has used/found. Be sure your book has the title “Real Life Polygons” By: _______ & ________

You may not find photos for the first 3 polygons from the internet, it has to come from our classroom. If you can’t find the last 3 polygons in the class then you may use the internet. Happy hunting!

Polygons to find…

Triangle
Square
Rectangle
Pentagon
Hexagon
Octagon

What can you do if you finish early? Work on IXL R2 and R3, then work on Progressfolio Tutorial for multiplication.

Progressfolio

Hi there! So sorry boys and girls that this is late but here are the next steps for your Progressfolio.

1) Finish x reflection
2) Reading- Choose a book that you’ve already read and take a pic if possible and write a paragraph explaining why it’s Just Right for you. The paragraph needs to be at least 5 sentences. You can use pic collage or another app for this. But don’t record your voice.
3) Upload it to your blog.

If you finish early Mrs. Enos has publishing paper for your I Desire To Be..sentences on the desk. She also has the cards. You may create a design for the border as well.

Good luck!

Hi Boys and Girls! Remember about 2 weeks ago we shared with one another a person in our lives who stand out to us because of their positive traits? I shared about my grandmother Pearl. Well, for this assignment I’d like you to bring in a photo of the person you shared about or another person you are thinking of. If you can’t bring the photo to school I can always print a copy for you. We will be creating a bulletin board in honor of these special people. I can’t wait to see all of these special people who are a part of your lives!

Please bring your photo in by next week Monday.
