Summaries for Reading Log

Aloha Parents,

As you have seen your child is now completing a brief summary on their nightly reading log. I kindly ask that you allow your child to complete this summary on their own. It may be 2-3 sentences in length, depending on how much they read that evening. We will be learning and practicing what brief summaries look like throughout the year. We do not expect the keiki to spend too much time on this part of the reading log. An average of 5-10 minutes is an appropriate amount of time. It really depends how much your child is wanting to write. If I feel your child is writing too little or too much I will have a one -to- one conference with them during our silent reading time in class. Mahalo nui for your continued support!
