Giving a Compliment Goes a Long Way.

How do you feel when you are greeted?  Just ask Mrs. Nihipali’s class!  This morning I was blessed to be among special friends who greeted each other with “I like you because……”  Everyone paired up and we shared why we liked our partner using colorful words & eye contact.  Isabelle shared “I felt special because Ms. Aiona’s tone of voice made me feel Happy!” As for me, I felt extra special because Mrs. Nihipali told me she liked my earrings.  Mahalo nui e nā haumāna &  Mrs. Nihipali for adding a sprinkle of JOY to my morning! I so giving and receiving compliments.

Konichiwa! Bonjour! Aloha! – Greetings from around the World

Today Ms. Manliguis class shared in a special greeting activity in the library.  We all greeted each other with “Konichiwa” – Good Day in the Japanese language.  It was extra special as each person was recognized by name, eye contact and with a bow which signifies honor. Greeting people everyday brings Joy to my life and I love being greeted too.  So, the next time we see each other, let’s be creative in our greetings and use a language from around the world like: Kalimera (Greek), Talofa (Samoan) Ia orana (Tahitian), and Bom dia (Portuguese).  Meet & Greet!

Finding Information in a Book.

Our Kindergarteners from Mrs. Nihipali’s class did a FABULOUS job today learning the parts of a book and working together in partnership to locate important information from a book.  The next time you see them around on campus, at home, or even in your classes don’t hesitate to ask them to tell you how to say Front Cover (Pale o Mua), Back Cover (Pale o Hope), and Spine (Ke Kua) in Hawaiian.  Akamai Loa Nā Haumāna!

Browse, Borrow, & Explore!

Today our Papa Mala’o Class – KB visited the library! It was their very first time browsing and borrowing a book from the Charles Reed Bishop Learning Center.  I am so proud of them as they used very good library manners while in the CRBLC. If you happen to see any of our KB students, have them share with you the book they are exploring!

What book are you reading?

What book are you reading or gonna read? As for me, I am revisiting a book I read last summer titled “Love Your Life.  Living Happy, Healthy, & Whole,” by Victoria Osteen. So love this book! Very inspirational  & encouraging.  Here’s a quote from her book – “God has placed great value, significance, and importance on the inside of every one of us.” Share with me what book you’re reading and something that inspired you? Happy Reading!
