The SBKH Project Charter sets the overarching vision, objectives and desired outcomes of the Standards Based Kula Hawai’i project. Here are charter excerpts:
Project Goal:
To improve student learning through the development and implementation of a tri-campus wide cyclical process that vertically aligns content standards and rubrics embedded in the Working Exit Outcomes (WEO) which are then implemented into all classroom instruction and assessment.
This project encompasses Content Standards Phase 3: Developing Essential Content Standards, Learning Benchmarks, and Assessments:
1. Continue the development of faculty understanding and use of the Working Exit Outcomes Framework.
2. Begin the adaptation of Indiana standards using the indigenization and globalization process for each content area.
3. Develop indicators of student performance outcomes at grades 2, 5, 8, and 10 (e.g.: rubrics and learning benchmarks) to meet targeted expectations.
4. Identify and recommend revisions as necessary and perhaps develop new instructional policies and procedures to support the goal of common exit outcomes for KS graduates.
5. Lay the ground work for alignment and delivery of KS Content Standards.
