What a beautiful Monday….Ekalesia…Library!

E Ola Pono!  Live Righteously!  Ekalesia was beautiful and the keiki enjoyed the message, the stories, the performance by the Keiki Worship team and of course singing themselves.  We sang songs like “Joyful”, “Hoʻonani”, “Jesus Loves Me” and  “This Little Light of Mine.” Todayʻs message for us was to “Speak Pono, Do Pono, Think Pono and ask for forgiveness when we have wronged another.”  Perfect message!

WEʻRE BACK!!!! Aloha Tuesday-return from Fall Break!

OCT 14-back from fall break_0

WOW!!  We all had a “SUPER FUN” and safe Fall Break….and WEʻRE BACK full of excitement and ready to keep on keeping on….we started with our morning oli with all of our hoakula (schoolmates) from grades K-5 and then we shared memories that we made during our break…we also shared our fears with all the lightning and thunder that happened yesterday.  We got right into more sharing with our “Authorʻs Chair” activity where the keiki shared their narrative pieces about themselves to their fellow peers. We will continue to build upon this narrative piece and expand to interesting topics like “My favorites”.   We continued with our math activities as we continue to explore our shapes. We are creating fictional characters out of our shapes and will be writing our own stories about them.  We are also in process of moving to different districts….which means we are changing our seating arrangements.  The keiki are excited about that.
Enjoy these snapshots!

Papa ʻEkahi Visits Middle School Garden with Mr. Floro!

Our Papa ʻEkahi visited Mr. Floro, the sixth grade science teacher, to visit their Middle School Garden. We were treated to dried bananas and fresh coconut. Mr. Floro had Uncle Wally in mind and knew that taking the fresh bananas or the heavy fresh coconut on the Hokuleʻa would not be such a great idea….too big, too bulky and the bananans might get all mashed up. He prepared dried bananas and cut up the coconuts instead!
~ “Nani ke akamai o ko kakou poʻe Hawaiʻi!”
We are working on getting our very own ʻuala plants in our garden here at the school. We will keep you posted on the progress of that!

Please enjoy this short clip of our visit with Mr. Floro! Aloha!
