Get Back In the Groove Week Underway

KSH High School’s “Get Back In The Groove” week is in full swing.  Monday’s theme was “Country” and there were tons of Cowboys and Cowgirls represented.  Today is “Hip Hop” and everyone is getting their swag on!

Wednesday is “Island Fever” day, followed by “Rock n Roll” and the week ends with Friday’s “50’s” theme day.  Lots of fun and games planned.  Students are reminded to review dress guidelines for each day and stay within them.

Seniors enjoying another theme week!

Recruiting Realities Presentation

Aloha Everyone – just want to alert you all of a fabulous opportunity for parents and athletes being presented by our Athletic Department.

Jack Renkens, a nationally known speaker and motivator knows how difficult it can be to guide athletes and parents through this process.  Jack has spent twenty-five years as a parent, teacher, coach and administrator at the high school, junior and senior college levels.  He is funny, direct and passionate as he explains the real process of the college athletic evaluation process.

Here’s more information regarding this great opportunity:

Good morning with Alan November

Spent the morning listening to Alan November deliver a keynote address at Schools of the Future Conference on Oahu (via live streaming – gotta love technology).  Very inspiring to hear some “fresh” and “reaffirming” views on the direction of technology in education and the learning process of our students in schools (i.e. elementary, middle, high, college, etc.).

Weekend Warriors!

Congratulations to our Warrior Athletic teams over the weekend.  Girls Bowling Team took their match against Konawaena (Lyshelle was the high scorer – great job!).  Shawn had a strong showing at HPA this Saturday with Cross Country.  Our Girls JV and Varsity V-ball teams took matches in dominating fashion from Honokaa, and our Varsity Football team defeated Kohala on the road.

Great job Warriors!

What a Day!

Tech Slam 2011 at Hawaii High School…what a day.  Mahalo to everyone for participating.  A special mahalo goes out to Darrin, Ellen and the entire ETS team for their support with this effort.  Mahalo to all of the presenters, keynote speakers (Mark & Dorothy), Student panel (Teddy, Brandon, Alyssa, Zoe – owe you one!), Loke & Dory for coordinating the logistics and to everyone who shared in today’s landmark event.

Our goal was to expose, introduce, validate and reinforce for our teachers the effective integration of technology in curriculum.  I believe we did just that.  I had many positive comments, a lot of great discussions, and many teachers saying that they can’t wait to get back to their classrooms to begin.

To assist us in improving our professional development offerings, please take some time to complete the online survey email to you.

Mahalo and God bless!

Hawaii Tech Slam 2011

Aloha Everyone – I’m excited as tomorrow we will be the first KS division to host a “Tech Slam”.  Tomorrow’s Tech Slam is an all day, one day conference focused on introducing and enhancing how technology can be successfully integrated into our classroom curriculum.  We have some great breakout sessions, as well as awesome keynote speakers planned for tomorrow.  Please check out our flyer and for more information, visit our Hawaii Tech Slam blog at:  http://blogs.ksbe.edu/hhstechslam/

Hope to see you there!

Greek Day at KS

So every year for the last seven years, KSH high school has hosted Greek Day, a time where juniors participate in activities honoring their study of Greek literature (The Iliad).  Language Arts classes are separated into “City States” and compete in several events, from re-enactments and dance to sporting events.

My question to all of our juniors is……..WHO WILL BE VICTORIOUS?

Support your city state and give me an idea of who may be the victorious group.  Argos?  Athens?  Sparta?  Keep the comments clean!
