Weekend recap: Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, March 1

February seemed to fly by! The gentlemen of Nae’ole Hale capped off the shortest month by attending Ho’olaule’a on Saturday. The festival — well known for its food, spirited vendors, performances, music, and even rides — took place at Konia Field. Ho’olaule’a concluded about 4 p.m. In the evening, about 10 boys and 10 girls enjoyed a trip to Ward Theatre to take in a movie. The majority of students watched “The Duff,” while a handful watched “Jupiter Ascending.”

By Sunday, the boys were ready for a break. But first, they were treated to a special chapel service at Konia Field conducted by Young Life. The Nae’ole boys enjoyed participating in the fun activities Young Life had in store, and listened intently to the message that was shared. It was a special way to conclude the Ho’olaule’a festivities, and meaningful to have two important community events at Konia Field on back-to-back days.

After chapel came brunch and by the time we returned to the dorm, many of the young men were ready for some down time. In the afternoon, Mr. Bross opened Keawe Gym for free play. After Keawe closed, it was time for Ala Gym to open. Mr. Ala and a group of hardworking boys were able to get in a good workout before dinner at 5 p.m.
