This is the second installment of our “Bridging the Gap” series.
It all comes down to this … THE SUPER BOWL! Football is the unofficial sport of Nae’ole Hale and Sundays are usually spent watching the big game on the TVs in the lounge. To celebrate the NFL’s season finale, Nae’ole Hale and Liholiho decided to come together and watch the tilt between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. The day before (Saturday, Jan. 31), the two dorms got to know each other while making lau lau at Liholiho and they were gracious enough to invite us back to watch the game with them:
The set-up. Liholiho was generous enough to host us, and they didn’t disappoint. Here, a group of boys take in a commercial during the game.
What’s a party without food?! The young men of Nae’ole and Liholiho enjoyed hotdogs and hamburgers during the Super Bowl.
Four boys from Nae’ole Hale stayed true to their colors and showed support for the Steelers during the 2015 Super Bowl.
The calm before the storm. This picture was taken moments before New England’s Malcolm Butler made a game-saving interception on the goal line with 20 seconds left in the game, allowing the Patriots to preserve a 28-24 victory over the Seahawks. Click on the link below to watch the boys react in real time to Butler’s big play.
… And that was a wrap, but not before the group enjoyed a delicious lau lau feast. It was a wonderful way to cap off a fun weekend with Liholiho. Nae’ole looks forward to many more of these activities to come. On behalf of the boarding community at Nae’ole Hale, mahalo Liholiho for your hospitality!
