Gates Scholarship 

The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, full scholarship for exceptional, Pell-eligible, minority, high school seniors. Starting in 2018, the scholarship will be awarded to 300 top student leaders each year with the intent of promoting their academic excellence through college graduation, and providing them the opportunity to reach their full potential.

To apply, students must be:

  • A high school senior
  • From at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
  • Pell-eligible
  • A US citizen, national, or permanent resident
  • In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

AES Engineering Scholarship

Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.

Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

QuestBridge 

A nationally recognized program that offers fantastic financial support for post-high education. This program supports low-income students who have shown great effort in their high school academic career. Coca-Cola Scholarship-

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 30th class in 2018, the Foundation has provided over 6,000 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $66 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. The application is open! Students who will be graduating in the 2018-2019 academic school year may apply now through Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern.

The Gromet Foundation- 

The Gromet Foundation provides scholarship grants and other assistance to low income, high achieving college bound Hawaii high school seniors.  Requirements are: low income students (see below) with a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or better.

Low income= family income of 150% or less of the 2017 federal poverty guidelines for Hawaii. For example 150% of the guideline for a family of 4 in Hawaii for 2018 is $48, 305. See www.familiesusa.org for more information.  See your counselor for an application or go online to the link above.

GENERAL OR REGULAR SCHOLARSHIP

For full-time, undergraduates attending an accredited college or high school seniors demonstrating financial need. Applicant must be a resident of Hawaii, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and participating in canoeing, surfing, kayaking, swimming, water polo, or volleyball, with a record of accomplishments and intention to compete in college.

Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund- 

Our vision is to see that all Asian and Pacific Islander Americans have access to higher education and resources that cultivate their academic, personal and professional success regardless of their ethnicity, national origin or financial means.

APIA Scholarship Program

The APIA Scholarship is open to Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) high school and college students who will be enrolling or are currently enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university as a degree-seeking undergraduate student in the upcoming academic year. There are multiple scholarship opportunities that vary in award amount, number of years, field of study, location, and more. For high school seniors, current college students, and students with GED entering college in Fall 2019.

Pauahi College NEED based Scholarships

Kamehameha School’s College Need Based Scholarships are available to students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited post-high institution in the United States as recognized by Kamehameha Schools (KS).

  1. Nahookama- Available for students who are pursuing a undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited post-high institution.
  2. Mauo- The Mauō Scholarship is available to students attending Arizona State University (ASU). Students majoring in Sustainability will be given priority.

Hawaii Government Employees Association 

If your parent is a member of the HGEA, you are eligible for this scholarship. There are two parts to this scholarship: one for those attending a university or college and those who are attending a vocational school or community college. They will look at 4 things: 1) Financial need, 2) academic achievement, 3) personal letter and 4) three recommendations. If you are interested, please visit www.hgea.org/kendallscholarhip. You can be awarded up to $2, 500 per year! Might as well try, if you qualify.

HPSE Maui Chapter Scholarship- Engineering

Are you entering into an engineering program in college? The Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers are offering a scholarship for students entering into an accredited college of engineering. Cancer Pathways 

Cancer Unwrapped is offering scholarships for students who have had an experience with cancer. This can be a personal experience or a loved one/friend who went through it. This is a writing contest so please be prepared to submit an essay. Open to students grades 9-12.

Applications are now open for the HRYF.  The HRYF has been a great support in our community to help students in their post high school education. To apply, note you will need to provide information from your FAFSA-therefore, make sure you have completed it! Also, know you will have to comply with other requirements (letter of rec etc).

Hawaii Rotary Scholarship 

Applicants must be a Hawaii graduating senior who will be attending a 4-year college or university. You are not eligible if you are entering a US Military Service Academy, attending college outside of the US, or anyone receiving a full tuition scholarship. They are offering a nice $5,000 scholarship to go towards school tuition!!

Womenʻs League of Central Union Church 

Two scholarships are available through this organization.

  1. Kenneth O. & Doris Rewick Educational Aid Fund- This is awarded to student who are seeking post-high school education.
  2. Ruth C. Scudder Scholarship- Awarded to a female student with a Christian affiliation, however the awardee will be assessed not on religion but on character, financial need and community service.

Maui Association for Family & Community Education 2019 Scholarship 

Planning to attend college to further your education? This scholarship is for you! They are awarding five individuals with $2000.00!! Qualifications…Hawaii high school senior, at least 3.0, good character in community, attending a 2 or 4 year college (full time).  They will also take into account: financial need, motivation for higher education, leadership in an out of school and recommendations.

Hawaii Self-Storage Scholarship- 

Hawaii Self-Storage is offering a scholarship to any Hawaii graduate who is looking to attend a post-high institution. You must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Please see your email for a flyer. Or, go to their website to download the application.

Touch for Peace- 

Do you desire peace in your life? Do you desire peace in your community? This scholarship is for YOU! Touch of Peace is a local (Maui) scholarship, looking to support individuals in their post high school education who value peace. You are asked to fill out an application, and write an essay about “How my higher studies will help promote PEACE” and “How are you going to propagate peace and “seed the change” with your education?” You can email your application to Laura at mauiljr@gmail.com. Kaimana Awards- 

This scholarship is looking to award student athletes who also do their part in helping our community and have a positive attitude. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and have participated in at least one high school sport during their high school career.  HMSA is the host of the scholarship and offer a nice $5,000 award for college expenses. Maui Portuguese Scholarship- 

Looking to learn more about your Portuguese ancestry and earn money towards your post-high education? This scholarship may be for you! Must be of Portuguese ancestry and be willing to share your culture and “talk story” with the Portuguese club members. They work hard to provide scholarship money by making and selling Portuguese bread. YUM! Please see Ms. Chong for an application or go to their website.

Maui Puerto Rican Association 

If you are planning to continue your education after college and have Puerto Rican ancestry, you are eligible for this scholarship. Iʻm a Bright Kid Scholarship

This foundation is looking to support high school seniors who are wanting to pursue post-high education. There are two awards: 1) Educational Award- those who want to get a degree in education (minimum $500 award) 2) Performing Arts Award- those who are seeking a degree in drama, theatre, dance, vocal performance or music theatre (minimum award $500). You will need an official transcript, two letters of recommendation and a personal statement. You can visit their website for more information on applying.

Chaminade STEM scholarship 

Looking to stay in Hawaii for college? Perhaps youʻre interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering or math)? Chaminade University has a wonderful scholarship called Hoʻoulu! This scholarship would cover 4 years of tuition, academic support, financial support towards a graduate degree and more. Check it out! There is a small window to apply (March 15-April 1).

Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship

Looking for students who are wanting to study STEM in college. This scholarship will award winners who have the following criteria: seniors in high school, GPA 3.5, plan to enroll in a full time university or college and can demonstrate financial need.  For more details, see their website (click on blue title above).

Claro Sr. & Maxima Capili created this scholarship for seniors in high school who want to pursue higher learning. They have a love for their community of Maui and believe that ALOHA drives our hearts and reminds us of what is important! Wyland Galleries Scholarship- 

Wyland Galleries are providing financial awards to winners of their art contest. The theme this year is “Ancestry”. They are looking for a drawing, painting by hand or original photography.
