About liconway

I am originally from Fayetteville, Arkansas and have lived on Hawai`i Island since 2013. My wife, daughter and I live in Hilo. I was teaching English and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) courses at UH-Hilo until the 2015-16 school year. I'm excited to work with the very motivated middle school students at Kula Waena. I hope to meet you soon!

Aloha oukou Kula Waena haumāna e ‘ohana!

Aloha e na haumāna a me makua! I’m honored to work with the Kula Waena Papa ʻEwalu this school year. KS haumāna are impressive and always driven–and full of energy! I’m Liam Conway-Nesson and I’ll be the 8th grade English Language Arts Instructor. I’ve been with the Kula Waena for five years and each year brings a new set of exciting opportunities. Prior to being a kumu with KS, Hawaiʻi, I taught English Composition, Literature and English as a Foreign Language at the University of Hawaiʻi, Hilo. Before that, my wife and I lived and taught in South Korea. My two daughters, wife and I are happy to be a part of this vibrant and growing community and dearly love Moku o Keawe. This school year will prove to be very different, with it’s own unique ways of challenging and engaging us. If haumāna or makua would like guidance or assistance with any of the course materials, please reach out to me by e-mail or phone.

In our ‘olelo Pelekane/ English Language Arts class we’ll focus on improving our reading, analysis and writing skills. We’ll read engaging material and expand our communication abilities, local and global awareness, while interacting in a collaborative classroom setting. Mahalo nui ā a hui hou!
