Zoology is a project-based course that will examine the nine major phyla of the Kingdom Animalia. It will focus on the branch of biology that deals with animals, including classification, anatomy, physiology, development, interrelationships, distributions, habitat, behavior and conservation. This course is designed to connect students to the natural world, through exploring the animal kingdom. Students will develop an understanding and importance of biodiversity as they investigate animals of interest. A placed-based connection to Hawaiʻi will be spotlighted in each unit. Students will experience hands-on learning including lab investigations, cultural connection activities, exploration, and research projects.
