Aloha and Welcome

Aloha Kamehameha Schools Ohana

Welcome to a new exciting 2015-2016 school year. My name is Jon Kimoto and I am the Elementary K-5 Guidance Counselor. I love supporting, guiding, educating and counseling children. This is my 24th year as a counselor and I continue to learn from children, parents and staff members every day. I am a father to 3 beautiful girls and married to our Middle School Instructional Technology Resource Teacher. I am honored and humbled to be able to serve and support all of you.

There are four components of our Counseling program:

  • Curriculum – includes group counseling, guidance and integrated activities with the classroom teachers. (see back: K-5 Guidance Big Ideas and Concepts)
  • Individual Planning – includes academic counseling and individual counseling.
  • Responsive Services – includes consultation, crisis intervention and referrals.
  • System Support – includes collaboration and teaming with parents, school faculty and community.

Open communication and collaboration are the most important elements in student achievement and success. Please feel free to check my blog: http://blogs.ksbe.edu/ jokimoto to see whatʻs happening in counseling and guidance. I am available during regular school hours and by appointment before and after school. Students and parents are welcome to contact me by phone or email. My office phone number is 573-7253, and my email is: jokimoto@ksbe.edu I look forward to a wonderful year and mahalo for all you do, for you are your childʻs most important teacher and counselor.

Just like the African proverb “it takes a village to raise a child,” it takes an entire ‘ohana to educate a child. Together, we are your child’s learning ohana and caring ‘ohana. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Me ka mahalo nui,

Jon Kimoto
