Boys’ Day

We celebrated Boys’ Day on May 5 by making carp kites. It is a Japanese custom that began in China. Long ago warriors flew banners above the gateway of their homes to honor their sons. Flying the carp streamers encourages boys to work hard to reach high goals. Families in Hawai’i celebrate Boys’ Day to wish their boys health and happiness!
