Last week we finished reading E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web. In fact, there were even a few tears shed in our classroom when at the ending Wilbur lost his loyal kind friend, Charlotte. However, we were all relieved to know that Wilbur lived on and Charlotte was never forgotten. This classic piece of literature allowed the keiki to learn a variety of new words, as well as work collaboratively with their classmates in gaining a deeper understanding of the text. The keiki were asked to “stretch” their thinking by making personal connections and explaining the author’s theme of the whole story.
