They say it takes a village to raise a child. At our kula, it takes an ʻohana. We are so blessed to have our Food Services ʻohana provide us with the most incredible, delicious, nutritious breakfasts, lunches, snacks and so much more. But it is not only the food that they offer, it is that welcoming feeling that our keiki, faculty and staff feel when they enter the dining hall. The Food Services aunties and uncles, led by Uncle Bruce Kekuewa, Food Services Manager, greet the keiki as they go through the buffet line. They make sandwiches and hand them out with a smile. They also pour cups of milk for the little ones. Many of them know students by their first names!
On Monday, our kula haʻahaʻa haumāna, faculty and staff honored our Food Services ʻohana. Students in kindergarten and fifth grade brought in many goodies and snacks. Three large goodie baskets were made for our favorite aunties and uncles at the dining hall. There were so many other goodies that they had to be packed in a box and more bags!
Our ʻAha ʻŌpio officers, Raynn Dangaran, Kayla Enanoria, Carlos Masuko and Kyra Gomes led the presentation of the gifts and offered words of appreciation. Finally, our entire kula offered the Oli Mahalo to our honored guests. Uncle Bruce closed our program noting that what they do, is for our students and staff. Wow – – we are truly blessed.
