Have you seen all the pinwheels that are lined up along the main campus road? What a wonderful sight to see this morning as the Pinwheels for Peace were whirling in the wind. Mahalo to kula haʻahaʻa’s art teacher, Mrs. Tana Rosehill as she spearheaded another “peaceful” year as these hand made pinwheels adorn our campus in honor of International Day of Peace (this Friday, Sept. 21).
If you have a chance, look carefully at the pinwheels. They not only have artwork depicting peace, but they may have a phrase or wish for peace in our world. At our morning oli today, students shared what our world would look like if everyone truly cared for each other. One student commented, “if we care and love one another, there would not be any war and we would live in a peaceful world”. Our entire student body sang “Peace is the World Smiling” and were accompanied by the 5th graders on their xylophones, glockenspiels, metalaphones. It was awesome!
A great big MAHALO to all of our parent volunteers who came in last week to assemble the pinwheels AND to all the parent volunteers who came in this past week-end to install the pinwheels along the roadways of campus. To quote a famous Beatle (John Lennon), “all we are saying….is give peace a chance”.
