5th graders received quite the treat today. Mr. Kamisato, technology teacher from the middle school brought 25 Compaq Netbooks to the classrooms to share! He showed them some fundamental differences between PCs and the Macs we use in school and then students logged in using their usernames and passwords. Glitch number one reared its ugly head as the wireless network was not able to accomodate all the computers at the same time. Issues like this help us to find out what’s wrong and then work towards correcting the situation and our IT department is hard at work.
We are so grateful to Mr. DeSa and the middle school for sharing resources with the pōkiʻi.
If you have a fifth grader in your hale, ask them how they enjoyed Mr. Kamisato’s lesson (little do they know Mr. Kamisato was doing his observations in preparation for having them as 6th graders).
Yes, indeed, we were able to add to our ʻumeke this morning when Mr. K came and demonstrated how to use a PC. Many of the keiki have PCs in their homes so they knew a little bit about how PCs differ from Macs. The big haʻawina? Change the pronoun from “I” to “We.” Work collaboratively – donʻt only focus on what you need. Weʻll see if they “get it.”
