3G: Landforms

The third graders are looking at the surface of the Earth and it’s landforms. There are many different kinds of landforms on the Earth. Some of them include mountains, valleys, plateaus, rivers & streams, prairies and canyons. Students are putting together a layered booklet that will help them remember what each landform looks like.

Did you know that Hawai`i has many different landforms? Hawai`i has many of them, even on just our island. We have mountains, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. We have Waipio Valley. We have Ka`u Desert. The islands has many rivers and streams. So our students don’t need to go very far to observe these landforms.
