Hauʻoli lā hānau Kauikeaouli!

We wore green in honor of Kauikeaouli’s (King Kamehameha III) birthday. He was known for building a “kingdom of literacy” and for uttering what later became our state motto, “Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i ka pono”, after the restoration of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi on July 31, 1843.
