Say hello to Leaner, our new speaking buddy! The students and Mrs. Kanehailua voted on a class name for our lobster friend. Check out the picture below of Leaner. photo

The acrostic poem you see below was written by Mrs. Kanehailua during our free writing block this morning. Come back soon for more poems and reflections on Leaner, written by our very own 3A students.

Conference Information for Parents

Student led conferences are right around the corner! If you’d like a conference confirmation please email me at [email protected] and I will get it to you ASAP.

Parking- Please park on the gravel nearest our Kina’u Pod. You are not required to check in with Aunty B so it’ll be a much closer walk. =)

Where will your child be? Your child will meet us in the classroom (Room 623) for their conference time and walk back to assigned class/activity when they are done.

I look forward to meeting with all of you and having your child share their learning/progress throughout the first trimester!

See you soon!

Just as a friendly reminder please remember to only download apps that are appropriate for school use. Although there may be apps that are free and in the appropriate age range we still discourage the use of apps that include any form of violence. Aloha From Boston, Massachusetts!

image

Aloha from chilly Boston! Miss Manliguis and I went on the Freedom Trail tour today to learn more about our country’s history. We visited the grave sites of Paul Revere, John Hancock, Abraham Lincoln’s parents, and even the lady we call “Mother Goose”. Her real name was Mary Goose. We even got to see cute little squirrels roaming around! After our tour was over we headed to “Little Italy” to eat at Limoncello, an Italian restaurant. I had chicken marsala…yum!
It was a beautiful day full of adventures and learning!

Aren’t these trees beautiful? I could look at them all day long. So full of color!

Operation Christmas Child

β€œIt’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”
― Mother Teresa

If you are interested in donating a Christmas Shoebox for a child around the world we will be collecting them until November 18th and 19th. You are welcomed to bring it in earlier.

If you would like to donate a small object/toy for a box I will have 2 in the class that we can all be a part of creating together. Each box will be for a boy/girl ages 5-9.

All of the shoeboxes will be blessed on November 24th at our Thanksgiving Convocation.

My Hopes and Dreams for 3A

photo3

My hopes and dreams are to have each student in my class feel special and safe. We all are special individuals with so much to offer. The stronger our relationships with one another, the better our environment becomes for learning, success, and fun!

In the first trimester I taught the students how to create their own rules so we could create an environment of safety and respect. I also introduced a variety of games and activities to help the students work together as a team and learn more about one another.

My plan for the second trimester is to continue to get them to mingle and learn more about each other by mixing up the seating arrangements at lunch on a weekly basis. I will also continue to teach the students how to treat each other with respect.
