Hi`ilei Media Center

It was an exciting day. Children from grades K through 6 came by the Hi`ilei Media Center to see the newly published books written and illustrated by themselves or classmates. The energy filled the air as if it was the day after Thanksgiving sale! This is the kind of enthusiasm Golden Pencils brings to our students. They know that they can write, draw and publish books for others to enjoy. The Golden Pencils book sale is a sure sign that children at Kamehameha are enjoying the writing process.

Keep those ideas flowing! Keep writing, drawing and publishing! The next Golden Pencils book sale will happen in Spring 2009.

Now we all have another e-book choice. Besides Tumblebooks, we now have Bookflix! The books on this website are paired by topics and each topic will have two different books:  fiction and non-fiction. Make sure you ask your teacher or librarian for the password. We hope you enjoy reading these e-books!

There were over 80 students from First Grade through Third Grade who met the challenge of reading over the summer break. These students turned in their summer reading log in August, and received a certificate and prizes in September.
