Mea’ai share, mahalo

February 27th, 2009 by jemakanu

E na makua o ka papa ewalu,

Mahalo a nui loa from grade 8 social studies.  The sharing of mea’ai at the end of our immigrant unit was a success.  In researching their ancestor, many students often learn new things about their ‘ohana.  While some students experience challenges in researching their ‘ohana, they are able to learn general information when we study the different ethnicities that migrated to American and Hawaii.  As a culminating activity, the sharing of food allows all students to share a part of their heritage.  This activity is all the more rewarding when students have an opportunity to sample a new food.

Again, mahalo for your continued support,

Mrs. Makanui-Yoshida
