Kumu Roxanne Kala and myself, Kumu Pumehana Silva, are blessed to have the opportunity to work with the fourth graders of Ke Kula o Kamehameha Hawaiʻi – Kula Haʻahaʻa. I come from a family of many teachers, both cultural practitioners and school teachers. My ʻohana comes from the moku of Hāmākua, from Kalopā to Waipiʻo. I love this island of Hawaiʻi and my goal is to help our keiki build pilina (relationships) to their ʻohana, to their lāhui, to their ʻāina, and to ke Akua. I strongly believe that Heavenly Father has guided each of us to where we are today and I pray that I will be able to serve both Him and the keiki well.
