Papa ‘Ekolu enjoyed a day filled with lots of poses, pictures and selfies at our Photo Party. Lots of ‘ohana and friends were able to join our Third Graders as they completed a photo scavenger hunt, took pics in a photo booth, and tried to identify students in their baby pictures. There was a lot of fun, food, and laughter as families reconnected after a long summer break.
Students in 3B are working on iPad projects for you to see some of the highlights of the day. They will post these on their individual student blogs. Links to those blogs will be placed on this blog soon.

Ho’omaika’i, Chayden and Makamae for being selected as our Hāweo Awardees for the month of May. Both of you have shown “ho’oulu” by persevering and growing this school year. Iʻm so proud of you and your accomplishments!
The Rotary Club of Hilo paid a visit to Papa ‘Ekolu today with gifts for everyone… dictionaries! In their mission to help the community, the Rotary Club distributed this handy tool to our haumana to help them further their acquisition of knowledge. Students also learned that members of the club, rotarians, help to fight against a disease called polio by providing vaccinations. Their club has over 1.2 million members worldwide in 34,000 clubs. We are so thankful for their kindness and generosity.

Congratulations to Kahiau and Kalia for receiving the Hāweo Award for the month of March! These two students are wonderful examples of student who have demonstrated hoʻoulu. They have grown in so many ways this school year.

Our awesome students were honored today at a special luncheon for being great learners and teachers to others in school. We are proud of them for demonstrating A’o. Ho’omaika’i, Dara and Kalā!

Last week Friday was Jump Rope for Heart. Our kula ha’aha’a had a fabulous time jumping rope to raise money for a worthy cause. Students collected donations to help the American Heart Society in their mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Great job, keiki!
