Papa ʻEkolu Goes Shopping

Papa ʻEkolu participated in their 6th Annual Holiday Gift Giving Project at KS Hawaiʻi. Both Third Grade classes earned over a total of $1000 to purchase needs and wants for their two “adopted” families from H.O.P.E. Services. Watch these presentations created by our haumana to learn more about our service learning project.

Mahalo Hilo Rotary Club

photo 1 photo 2 photo 3

On Monday, members from the Hilo Rotary Club stopped by to visit Papa ‘Ekolu for a special delivery. They brought with them 40 student dictionaries! All the keiki were so very excited to receive their very own mini sized dictionaries. They learned that the longest word in the English language is 1,909 letters long, as well as the symbols for American Sign Language. Who knew a dictionary could provide this type of information?!
The Rotary Club members taught us that they are able to donate these dictionaries to 3rd graders around the island because of their yearly Hilo Huli event. This event’s proceeds go to making the community a better place for all. The next one will take place at Coconut Island on May 1st, 2016. Reserve your tickets today!

Operation Christmas Child

Operation-Christmas-Child-2014

Join Kula Ha’aha’a in supporting Operation Christmas Child this year by packing a shoe box for a child somewhere around the world. If you want to donate a shoe box please have your keiki bring it to school during the week of November 9th-13th.

“Every shoebox gift delivered by Operation Christmas Child is a tangible expression of God’s amazing love. But a shoebox is just the beginning. It also presents an opportunity in more than 100 countries for our church partners to invite children into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through The Greatest Journey.”
