Parents – You should know this about social media:
Lots to think after watching this video. How does social media affect us as educators and our students who are the digital learners?
That is the question…can we afford to ignore social media or block it from our campuses and homes? Hmmm…
I’m glad that KSBE is at least exploring the possibility of bringing social media to the students as another platform for communication.
I believe schools should allow the access of youtube to students. I believe that there is more good that can be shared through youtube then bad.
Teach the kids to use the tools responsibly and allow them to access them while they are at school while at least being monitored.
They can access youtube at home w/out being monitored… at least give them a chance to view and use youtube with proper guidance.
Social media is definitely being explored here at KS. Teachers are encouraged to blog and students are being instructed in ethical conduct in technology. While here at elementary we spend time working with students in accessing “pono” sites, the scope is much larger on our K-12 campus AND institution wide. Not all students have a technology class or teachers trained in tech instruction but rest assured we are working towards that. Mahalo for your continued support!
Social media has become a crucial part of my business and a useful help to my referral network. Happy to know it’s an integrated tool in our schools.
