Students in my current grade 4 FLOW group worked on a project in which the task was to design a floor plan for our po`o kumu, Mrs. Kanehailua. Students studied actual floor plans and learned about how to calculate square footage. They also worked on calculating the costs of some of the possible materials and supplies in order to build the home. They were amazed at how much building a home really costs! In the end, Mrs. Kanehailua listened to a short presentation from each student and was able to view their floor plans. She could not get herself to choosing just one home design.
