If you get confused or need a reminder check out the examples below! <\/p>\n<p>Addition Strategies<\/p>\n<p>1) Add the tens, then add the ones.<br \/>\n   68+27=?<br \/>\n   68+20=88<br \/>\n   88+7=95<br \/>\n   So, 68+27=95<\/p>\n<p>2) Add the nearest ten, then subtract the extra ones.<br \/>\n   44+38=?<br \/>\n   44+40=84<br \/>\n   84-2=82<br \/>\n   So, 44+38= 82<\/p>\n<p>3) Add 100 (round 2nd # to 100), then subtract the extra ones.<br \/>\n   65+97=?<br \/>\n   65+100= 165<br \/>\n   165-3= 162<br \/>\n   So, 65+97=162<\/p>\n<p>4) Add the 100&#8217;s (round both #&#8217;s to 100), then subtract the extra ones.<br \/>\n   96+95=?<br \/>\n   100+100=200<br \/>\n   200-4-5= 191<br \/>\n   So, 96+95=191<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>Subtraction Strategies<br \/>\n1) Subtract the tens, then subtract the ones.<br \/>\n   67-43=?<br \/>\n   67-40= 27<br \/>\n   27-3=24<br \/>\n   So, 67-43= 24<\/p>\n<p>2) Round to the nearest ten, then subtract the tens.
