Upper elementary grades 3, 4, 5, are swimming for P.E. at Nae’ole Pool.  Keiki are learning basic skills for swimming and safety.  The American Red Cross Leveled swim skills are the basis for the skills taught at Kula Ha’a ha’a.   Learning how to swim is very important because we live on an island surrounded by water and it also can provide many alternatives for exercise, fitness and fun.

Students at our kula have to meet some very specific swim requirements at middle and high school so it is important that they get a strong foundation in both skill and safety techniques when in or near water.  Please encourage your keiki to learn the skills they will need to be safe and successful.  There are many opportunities to get swim instruction at our Nae’ole Pool on campus, community pools and the YWCA.

Mahalo to the parents for all of your support during this unit, your assistance is greatly appreciated.  Your child has already shown improvement in just one session.

I want to also mahalo the classroom teachers who accompany myself to each session, to the E.A.’s; Mrs. Leialoha and Mrs. Isabel.  Also mahalo nui to Aunty Julie Riveira, for whom, without their kokua swimming would not be the success that it is.
