\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Ho’omau <\/em>means to persevere, to never give-up or quit.\u00a0 You’re probably wondering what that has to do with a cat or what the cat has to do with Queen Ka`ahumanu.\u00a0Well,\u00a0\u00a0the 4th grade\u00a0classes had a recent lesson on Queen Ka`ahumanu and her ability to ho’omau through very tough times because of her pilina <\/em>with Jesus.\u00a0 Huaka Cortez and Jesse James Crivello from Kumu Silva’s class volunteered to\u00a0copy a picture of a cat\u00a0by drawing it on their own\u00a0 paper that was taped to the white board.\u00a0 After they volunteered they were given a surprise challenge.\u00a0 The challenge was to do it without using their hands!\u00a0 At the end of the activity, they were asked to share their mana`o about how they felt or what they thought\/experienced.\u00a0 Jesse said that it was hard to do, but a little easy because we had\u00a0an example\u00a0to follow.\u00a0 Huaka said it was hard too\u00a0because keeping the pen in her mouth was difficult.\u00a0 Yet, both never gave up because it was too hard.\u00a0 They persevered till the end.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Like life, it can be hard and there will be challenges.\u00a0 In fact sometimes we have to do things we are not comfortable with or we are not used to, like when\u00a0Huaka and Jesse\u00a0had to draw with their mouths.\u00a0 But,\u00a0\u00a0with Jesus as our “example” to “follow” and our faith in Him, we\u00a0are able to ho`omau through\u00a0life’s tough times as Queen Ka`ahumanu did.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
