I am truly honored to be your keiki\u2019s papa \u2018ekahi kumu (grade 1 teacher) this school year.\u00a0 I am excited to get to know your keiki and your \u2018ohana so let me tell you a little bit about myself and my \u2018ohana.<\/p>\n<p>I was born and raised on the friendly island of Moloka\u2019i to John and Lorna Dudoit.\u00a0 I am the second child of four.\u00a0 I have an older sister, Dana and two younger brothers, Dean and Johnny.\u00a0 After graduating from high school in 1991, I moved here to Hilo to pursue my bachelor\u2019s degree in Hawaiian Studies as well as my professional teaching certificate from the University of Hawaii-Hilo.\u00a0 I continued to further my education and earned my master\u2019s degree in Education from Central Michigan University.\u00a0 I immediately embarked on my professional teaching career in 1996 as a teacher at Kula Kaiapuni o Keaukaha and at Ka \u2018Umeke Ka\u2019eo Public Charter School in Keaukaha.\u00a0 I am so excited to be embarking on this new journey of my career here at KS Hawaii.\u00a0 My steady supporter- the kuamo\u2019o or hull of my wa\u2019a is my husband Sonny Paleka who is also from Moloka\u2019i.\u00a0 We have 4 children- La\u2019iku(11), Kahili (8) and \u2018Auli\u2019i(5) all attend KS Hawaii and our Nakoa (3) will be entering preschool at E Makaala School.\u00a0 We enjoy being together, going home to Moloka\u2019i for our \u2018ohana camping trip every summer and just supporting each other in the many activities we are a part of.\u00a0 I enjoy paddling (when I get the chance to get to the ocean).\u00a0 I love hula.\u00a0 I enjoy reading and I love teaching!<\/p>\n<p>I look forward to meeting all of you, and I look forward to getting to know you, your keiki and your \u2018ohana.\u00a0 Like you, I too am here to be a wind, an ocean current, a bright star in the sky or one of nature\u2019s creatures to help guide, support and move forward your keiki\u2019s wa\u2019a\u2026..pupukahi i holomua!\u00a0 Together as one our keiki will progress!!<\/p>\n<p>Me ka \u2018oia\u2019i\u2019o no,<\/p>\n<p>Kumu Wai<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am Kumu Waianuhea Paleka and I am thrilled and excited to be a part of the Kamehameha Schools Kula Ha\u2019aha\u2019a\u2018ohana.
