Academy

The career academy is designed to:

  • Allow students to design purposeful plans that identify the continuing education path best suited to their goals after graduation;
  • Show students the relevance of rigorous academic skills, which are increasingly important in more workplaces, leading to a high-skill/high wage employment;
  • Expose students to career fields and entire industries so they learn broadly defined workplace skills relevant across many jobs; and
  • Allow students to experience the type of activities required by the career fields within their scope of interest.

By the spring semester of the sophomore year, students should make a decision about what academy and endorsement they would like to pursue for the junior and senior years of their high school career.  They will declare their academy choice during registration.  To satisfy the academy graduation requirement, students complete:

The four (4) academies to choose from include Arts & Communication, Business & Leadership, Information Technology, and Science & Natural Resources.
