Learning Center):<\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;The Revered Chiefess&#8221;<br \/>\nPrincess Ruth Ke\u02bbelik\u014dlani, also known as Keanolani, gave\u00a0over 350,000 acres of land to her cousin, Bernice Pauahi. \u00a0A stoic and stern chiefess, Ke\u02bbelik\u014dlani was beloved by Pauahi and oftentimes affectionately referred to as &#8220;mama nui&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lili\u02bbuokalani (Music Rooms): \u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;The Burning of the Heavens&#8221;<br \/>\nThe last ruling monarch of Hawai\u02bbi, Lili\u02bbuokalani was immediately adopted after her birth by P\u0101k\u012b and Konia and became a foster sister to Bernice Pauahi. \u00a0As a young student at the Chiefs&#8217; Children&#8217;s School, Lili\u02bbuokalani developed a love and skill for music. \u00a0She is best remembered for her love for people and for her many musical compositions.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nKa\u02bbahumanu (Classrooms): \u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;The Feather Mantle&#8221;<br \/>\nConsidered as the favorite wife of Kamehameha I, Ka\u02bbahumanu was allowed to sit in the council of chiefs, a privilege no granted to her brothers. \u00a0When Kamehameha feared for the stability of his government, he made Ka\u02bbahumanu the pillar and cornerstone for the state. \u00a0Ka\u02bbahumanu served as Kuhina Nui or co-ruler with Kamehameha II and Kamehameha III, and is responsible for the overthrow of the kapu system with Kaheiheim\u0101lie and Ke\u014dp\u016bolani.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kaheiheim\u0101lie (Classrooms): \u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;The Calm Race&#8221;<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Kaheiheim\u0101lie was the wife of Kamehameha I and foster mother of Bernice Puahi. \u00a0At the time of Kamehameha I&#8217;s death, she contributed to the overthrow of the kapu system along with Ka\u02bbahumanu and Ke\u014dp\u016bolani by continuing the practice of free eating (\u02bbainoa).<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nKuakini \u00a0(Dining Room &amp; Specialty Classrooms): \u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;Innumerable&#8221;<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Kuakini, along with his brother Kahekili Ke\u02bbeaumoku, entered an English speaking school, and was two of four chiefs who were able to understand and read the English language. \u00a0he soon converted to Christianity, and established many churches throughout the island of Hawai\u02bbi. \u00a0Some of these churches were Mokuaikaua, Mahiki, Kalahikiola, and Haili.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nKahekili (Gymnasium):<\/strong> \u00a0&#8220;The Thunder&#8221;<br \/>\nHis kingdom encompassed seven of the Hawaiian Islands except the Island of Hawai<span class=\"unicode\">\u02bb<\/span>i and paved the way for the creation of a unified Kingdom of Hawaii by his son, Kamehameha I. He succeed his brother Kamehameha-nui <span class=\"unicode\">\u02bb<\/span>Ail\u016b<span class=\"unicode\">\u02bb<\/span>au as king of Maui, Lanai and Moloka<span class=\"unicode\">\u02bb<\/span>i in 1765.<\/div><div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"content_box_space\"><\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div> <div class=\"one_third last\"><div id=\"content_box_069ee75e4afeb4de92bf53a6daa4813e\" class=\"content_box\" style=\"width:100%;\">\n\t<div class=\"content_box_title\" style=\"background-color:rgba(0,52,102,1);color:rgba(247,162,55,1)\">Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"content_box_content\" style=\"background-color:rgba(255,255,255,1);\">\n\t\t\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/mauimiddletestsite1\/files\/2014\/10\/pauahi-portrait-2__large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2298\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/mauimiddletestsite1\/files\/2014\/10\/pauahi-portrait-2__large.jpg\" alt=\"pauahi-portrait-2__large\" width=\"300\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/mauimiddletestsite1\/files\/2014\/10\/pauahi-portrait-2__large.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/mauimiddletestsite1\/files\/2014\/10\/pauahi-portrait-2__large-214x300.jpg 214w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kamehameha Schools (KS) is a private charitable educational trust endowed by the will of Hawaiian Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop (1831-1884), the great-granddaughter and last direct descendant of King Kamehameha I.<\/p>\n<p>During her lifetime, Princess Pauahi witnessed the rapid decline of the Hawaiian population. With that decline came a challenge to preserve the Hawaiian language and culture she held dear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"no_space\">The princess knew that education would be key to the survival of her people, so in an enduring act of aloha, she left them a precious gift upon her passing \u2013 375,000 acres of ancestral land. She instructed the trustees of her estate to use the land to educate her people. Today, her endowment supports an educational system that serves thousands of Hawaiian learners in Hawai\u2018i and across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"content_box_space\"><\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 SLIP<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 KSMaui &#8211;
