Studio Production is a class for students interested in continuing to develop their skill in the studio environment. Students gain expertise while serving as crew members for the daily Puka Mai Ka La broadcast. They rotate between the major positions (Director, Switcher, GC, Audio, & Floor Manager) and learn to work together collectively as a crew.
They also provide valuable creative insight for the direction of the show and special themes to appeal to their audience. Their work also extends into the studio for set design and lighting.
The majority of class time is dedicated to working on quarter projects which may be done individually or as a larger group.
The main goals for Studio Production are:
1. Proficiency in telling stories visually
2. Proficiency in the Pre-Production process (planning, coordination, story ideas)
3. Gain expertise in the main job positions for a studio broadcast
4. Expand their knowledge in set design and lighting design for studio productions
5. Produce ethical consumers and producers of information
